Intelligent Documents

The way to capture structured intelligence from unstructured data. 

Propel is transforming documents from static attachments into connected, governed product data—linking native files, system-generated PDFs, watermarking, approvals, training, and search. With this work, Propel will automatically create read-only PDFs from native source files, apply dynamic watermarks and approval history for compliance, and surface redline comparisons so reviewers can instantly see what changed.

How It Works

AI-powered from the start. When files are uploaded or connected from cloud tools, AI classifies metadata and proposes relationships to existing product records. Reviewers can query document sets with natural language, surface version summaries, and understand redline deltas without reading line-by-line. The result: documents that answer questions, not just store information.

With Google Drive, SharePoint/Microsoft 365, and other cloud-authoring connections, teams will work in the tools they already use while keeping Propel as the unified source of truth for lifecycle, access, and auditability. The result is faster reviews, fewer release errors, stronger audit readiness, and a unified product thread where unstructured content becomes actionable intelligence across PLM, QMS, and PIM.

Current Progress

Document management is currently in a Beta phase, where we are engaging with customers on the new workflows and data models. Hosted breakout session at Propulsion, validating designs and are now implementing feedback.

How to Upgrade your Sandbox

New releases will be pushed to your production instance by Propel

What Does This Mean
For Me?
  • Your Salesforce org can be upgraded starting the week of June 26.
  • A sandbox version of the release is available now. If you want to upgrade your sandbox and test the new features, contact your Customer Success Manager.
What Action Do I Need To Take?
  • The push may take up to two hours, and your users can remain logged in and working while the upgrade occurs.
  • Once your org is upgraded, your Propel Admin must perform the Configuration Instructions for each incremental release. We will reach out when your org is upgraded, and your Admin can begin the configurations.
What’s The Impact to my Org?
  • Review the below Configuration Instructions for each release and assets with any IT counterpart.
  • To test the new release in your Sandbox, send an email to your Customer Success Manager. We recommend you review all materials below.

DesignHub Improvements
Introduces Import Profiles with reusable mapping configurations, Design Source Control for ownership-aware BOM diff logic that prevents imports from overwriting components managed by other tools, and automatic File Format conversion that translates CAD-exported BOM notation into Propel's level-based structure without manual reformatting
Item Revision Fields Required at a Change Phase
Administrators can now require Item Revision fields to be populated before a Change can exit a phase, configurable universally or by Item Category on Change Lifecycle Phases, with the Affected Items Tab highlighting exactly which rows and fields need attention.
Product Teams Enhancements
When a new draft is created, users can specify fields to clear automatically.
