Initially using MasterControl, Surmodics engineers quickly identified roadblocks. Core capabilities like change impact assessment during revision changes and integrated BOM management were either missing or disconnected. Basic change processes required two workflows, while the QMS implementation was limited to a single complaints module. Customization options were minimal, creating friction when fast-paced innovation was essential.
